American Elements is a somewhat-expensive source, and a few grams of Thorium from them
was in the region of $400 (delivered) last I looked. The transport from them is costly
since they take all the official precautions. A better deal is to go on
eBay and buy
Thorite
as a mineral, since for most nuclear experimentation the chemical state is immaterial.
Ore works as well as refined stuff, and it is legal to send mineral samples in a padded
bag. Converting that potential energy into available heat/electricity, though, needs us
to solve the puzzle of what Papp did.
