Jesus making disciples

Jesus Christ was 2000 years ago, a preacher who traveled through Galilee and Judea, proclaiming the kingdom of God and healing the sick. He taught the two most important commandments:

And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. (Luke 10:27-28)

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (1 John 4:7-8)

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:16)

He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. (1 John 2:10)

If you are not loving. Then search deep within yourself and don't think that love has to be a certain way. When you have found the love within you, be willing to express it as it is:

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. (Ephesians 3:14-19)

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? (Luke 11:9-13)

Jesus says that we should pray to the Father in heaven for His healing power and that He is very willing to meet the needs of the one praying.

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye. (Luke 6:37-42)

Jesus also gave some simple rules for living:

1) We should never be faultfinders but forgive the actions of others whose words or actions have hurt us, and neither should we judge or condemn the beliefs and actions of others when we meet them, because they are doing the best they can, each according to their current understanding. Instead, we can show an alternative way of acting through our example and give some guiding words. 2) We should also not set any limits on what is possible for God to do.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10)

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (John 14:10-12)

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16)

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (Luke 17:20-21)

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:29-30)

Living the unselfish life is a lighter burden than living the selfish life. All we need to live the unselfish life is to be kind and humble. Then we will find peace of mind, for God's life is kindness and ease of living. Modern research has shown that we feel better by helping other people with their needs than by living a selfish life and accumulating as many things as possible.

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?(Luke 9:23-25)

Jesus Christ wants us to become his followers and deny our selfish lives and instead take up the four-pointed cross of God by perceiving God's ideas, thinking God's thoughts, speaking God's words, and doing God's deeds. It is also important that we who are followers of Jesus Christ live a surrendered life. Not just on Sunday, but every day. It costs nothing to ask:

How are you? Do you want me to pray for you and your problems?
