Buddha or Christ?

Relax. You already have everything that you need. Your nature is already whole. Your nature is already pure.

There is nothing to obtain. You just have to give up and let go what is covering it.

~ Chamtrul Rinpoche

In 2001 I was diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia and have been on heavy medication since then. I am interested in spiritual development and my goal is to either become a Buddha or a Christ. You might say I suffer from megalomania due to my diagnosis of Schizophrenia (I was cured of Paranoid through talk therapy in 2001). That I am a heretic who wants to become a Buddha, because he lived 490-410 BC and died before Christ, or that I am a heretic who wants to become a Christ, because he lived and died after Buddha at the age of 33 in 33 AD. It is all a misunderstanding. Buddha and Christ are a title. Buddha means "the one who has awakened and understood the true nature of existence" and Christ means "the anointed one" because Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. (Luke 4:18-19)

Siddhartha Gautama Buddha was the first Buddha and he taught the 4 noble truths, the 8 fold path, the 5 precepts and the 4 divine abodes. Buddha was born into Brahmanism and it was only after Buddha's death that Buddhismen was founded. Buddhismen therefore has many similarities with Hinduism such as Karma and Reincarnation but Buddhism differs from Hinduism in that as a Buddhist you do not believe in Hindu rituals and the Caste system.

How does one become a Buddha?

There are only two days in the year when you cannot become a Buddha. One is yesterday and the other is tomorrow. Only in the present can you live and become a Buddha. Practice living in silence, so that nothing disturbs your Buddha nature. If you are not feeling well or if you are thinking too much, practice conscious breathing through your nose. When you are not meditating, practice the 4 immeasurables: Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Sympathetic Joy, and Equanimity.

You can get more life tips on the webpage My Awakening. During the 20th century, several Buddhist wisdom teachers were born who wrote books, traveled the world, taught and posted wisdom teachings on the Internet.

In addition to Chamtrul Rinpoche, the Dalai Lama and Thich Nhat Hanh, there are several other lesser-known Buddhist wisdom teachers. What they all have in common is that they are Bodhisattvas who are on their way to becoming a Buddha. The philosopher and teacher George Adamski was told by his space friends that:

Man is a divine spirit who currently lives in a body. His life's task is to know his true self, which is equal to the 'feeling body'. "You must try to make the people on earth understand that self-knowledge is the first step in their development. And the first questions are: Who am I? Along what paths can I develop in order to return to the unity I once left? Point out to them that man has nothing to add. He only needs to express what he already is. But he must learn to understand what he is and give expression to this in his life. For it is life, the application that is important."

This is consistent with Chamtrul Rinpoche's teaching that as a Buddhist there is nothing to achieve, but everyone has a Buddha nature that is hidden by misconceptions about man's true identity. One person who had high expectations of man was the wisdom teacher Jesus Christ who did two things during his walk on earth. He taught about the kingdom of God on earth and healed the sick and freed the captives.

How does one become a Christ?

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. (Matthew 23:8-12)

The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? (Matthew 10:24-25)

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (1 Timothy 2:5)

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. (John 12:32)

Paul clearly stated that Christ Jesus and not the Pope is the mediator between God and man. Jesus said that he has the power to draw man's consciousness to the heavenly heights and we as followers of Jesus therefore receive heavenly vibrations in the mind and body if we exalt Jesus and have him as friend and lord.

Jesus said that a disciple can become like his teacher. Since Jesus worked miracles, we should also work miracles, and since Jesus taught about the kingdom of God on earth, we should also teach about the kingdom of God on earth.

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (Johannes 14:10-12)

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. (Mark 10:27)

There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (John 3:1-8)

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (Johannes 4:23-24)

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (Ephesians 4:23-24)

God is spirit and the spiritual truth about life on earth is found in the mind of God. To realize God's truth on earth, we must be born of his spirit and this is most easily done by loving the spirit of our neighbor and loving the spirit of God with our whole being.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (1 John 4:7-8)

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:16)

And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. (Luke 10:27-28)

He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. (1 John 2:10)

If you don't have the opportunity to love our neighbor. Then love yourself and enjoy yourself. Then you live in good and healing body vibrations.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2)

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (Luke 17:20-21)

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16)

It is the Father/Holy Spirit/Jesus Christ within us who will heal the sick and cast out demons. By becoming one with God through love, the impossible becomes possible.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature...And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils...they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (Markus 16:15-18)

It is not we, but Jesus who will work miracles through us and we will not make all people Christian churchgoers. But into disciples of Jesus and we will baptize the disciples and for us who do all this, Jesus will be with us until the end of time.
